World Heritage Discovery Tour
Anuradhapura · Polonnaruwa · Sigiriya · Dambulla · Kandy · Galle
About this journey
Sri Lanka's compact size hides an extraordinary cultural depth. This eight-day route visits all six of the island's cultural UNESCO World Heritage Sites — alongside the natural Sinharaja rainforest if time and weather allow.
We focus on early-morning visits and slow afternoons, so you experience these sites without the midday tour-bus crowds. A driver-guide who has visited each site many times will share context as you go.
Recommended for travellers with a strong interest in archaeology, history, or Buddhist heritage.
What you'll experience
Anuradhapura Sacred City
The 4th-century BC capital of Sri Lanka — Ruwanwelisaya stupa, the sacred Bodhi tree, and the moonstones of Abhayagiri monastery.
Polonnaruwa Medieval Capital
Bicycle through the 12th-century royal city — palace ruins, the Vatadage circular shrine, and the rock-cut Buddhas of Gal Vihara.
Sigiriya Lion Rock
Climb the 5th-century rock fortress at dawn — fresco maidens, mirror wall, and the throne pavilion at the summit.
Dambulla Cave Temple
Five sanctuaries of golden Buddhas and 2,000-year-old murals carved into a single granite massif.
Temple of the Tooth
Sri Lanka's most sacred Buddhist site, home to a relic of the Buddha — visit during the evening puja ceremony.
Galle Fort
Walk the 17th-century Dutch ramparts at sunset — the colonial counterpoint that completes the cultural circuit.
