Plan with Confidence
Everything you need to know before your Sri Lanka journey — visa, weather, money, safety, and how we work.
Travel Planning
When is the best time to visit Sri Lanka?
Sri Lanka has two monsoons, so the best time depends on where you're going. The west and south coasts (Galle, Mirissa, Bentota) are best from December to March. The east coast (Trincomalee, Arugam Bay) is best from May to September. The Cultural Triangle (Sigiriya, Kandy, Anuradhapura) can be visited year-round but is most pleasant from January to March. We'll advise on the optimal route for your travel dates.
Do I need a visa to enter Sri Lanka?
Most travelers need an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization), which can be applied for online before arrival. Processing typically takes a day. We recommend applying online a few days before your trip via the official Sri Lanka ETA portal. We can advise on the latest requirements based on your nationality.
How long are the daily drives?
Most days involve 2–4 hours of driving, with stops for sights, food, and rest. For example, Colombo to Sigiriya is around 4 hours; Kandy to Nuwara Eliya is about 3 hours of scenic mountain driving. We design routes to balance travel time with experience time.
Money & Practicalities
What currency should I bring?
The local currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). US Dollars are widely accepted at hotels and larger establishments. We recommend bringing some USD in small denominations for tipping, and exchanging or withdrawing LKR (ATMs are common in cities) for daily spending. Credit cards work at most hotels and larger restaurants but not in rural areas.
How much should I tip my driver?
Tipping is customary in Sri Lanka — around USD 5–10 per day for drivers is standard, given at the end of the trip. Small tips (LKR 100–200) for porters and hotel staff are appreciated. Restaurant tips are usually 10% of the bill.
Safety & Service
Is Sri Lanka safe for tourists?
Yes — Sri Lanka is generally very safe for tourists, including solo female travelers. Standard precautions apply: keep valuables secure, be aware in crowded areas. Our drivers are vetted and reliable, and we maintain 24/7 WhatsApp contact during your trip.
Will my driver speak English?
Yes. All our drivers are fluent in English. Many also speak Sinhala and Tamil, and some have working knowledge of other languages.
Can I change the itinerary while on the road?
Absolutely. Itineraries are designed but never rigid. If a place captures you, we'll stay longer. If something doesn't work, we'll adjust. WhatsApp is our preferred mid-trip communication channel.
Booking & Logistics
Do you book hotels for me?
No — we recommend hotels at every budget level and provide direct contacts, but the booking is yours to make. This gives you flexibility to adjust, earn loyalty points, and ensure your stay is on your terms. We coordinate with the hotels regarding your arrival and any special requests.
How do I book a tour?
Send us a message via the contact form, WhatsApp, or email. Tell us roughly what you're imagining — even a single sentence is enough. We'll come back within 24 hours with a draft itinerary, vehicle suggestions, and a transparent quote. There's no booking fee for itinerary planning.
What's your cancellation policy?
Refund eligibility depends on how far in advance you cancel: more than 14 days before the tour, a full refund minus processing fees; 7–14 days before, a 50% refund; less than 7 days, no refund. In cases of force majeure (natural disasters, political unrest), we may offer alternative arrangements or partial credits at our discretion. Full details on our Terms & Conditions page.
Culture & Etiquette
What's the dress code for visiting temples?
Cover your shoulders and knees. Wear long pants/skirts and a shirt with sleeves. Remove shoes and hats before entering. At Buddhist temples, light or white clothing is preferred. Photos of yourself with Buddha images are sometimes restricted — your guide will let you know.
